Baba Reshi Shrine

About Baba Reshi ShrineLocated in Baramullah district (Rambodh Village), is the beautiful shrine of Sufi Saint Baba Payam Uddin Reshi. It is a three- storey monument situated at an altitude of about 7000 feet. This is a popular tourist and pilgrim destination. Baba Payam Uddin is said to have given all his belongings to serve common people. He lived at this location that later became his tomb site. People from around the work come up to seek his blessings and fill their mind with positivity the shrine reflects, annually during his ‘Ur’ (birth anniversary). The ‘langar’ (free meals are eaten together) at the temple is hygienically prepared and tasty. Baba Reshi’s shrine is inside a minaret with beautiful carvings. The “Noor Khwan” is the place where his grave rests. It is covered with a satin cloth having Quraan embroidery and is made of glass. Women have to cover their heads as part of the shrine's discipline. The temple has a “Daan” section where devotees can donate for charity and maintenance of the shrine. So, do take the root cut on the right on the way to Gulmarg to this divine place. Chances are you may be invited over for a salted Kashmiri tea and some snacks by the welcoming locals!
