Nishat Bagh


Nishat Garden is also called Nishat bagh that means ‘Garden of Delight’. It was designed by Asif Khan in the year 1633. The garden is situated on the banks of the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan mountain ranges at the back. You can get the panoramic views of the snow-covered mountains and the aqua blue waters of the lake. The Nishat Bagh has a splendid architecture. It has different terraces which have rows of cypress and chinar trees. The total twelve terraces are built in such a form that they represent the twelve zodiac signs. There is a public garden which is accessible for all the visitors. The uppermost terrace of the garden has the Zenana garden and the bottom terrace is connected to the Dal Lake. A small spring called Gopi flows near the Nishat Bagh and is the source of drinking water supply to the garden. The aqua blue water of the spring look spectacular. You will find a number of old buildings which were built according to the Mughal architectural style. While visiting the Nishat Garden you will get glimpses of the Persian architectural style. A visit to this garden must be the priority of the itinerary of the tourists.
