Nilagrad River is a beautiful mountain river in the Sonmarg city. At the Baltic Colony, the River joins the Indus River. The river is small in size and gets its shape from the conjoining of the river in the Baltic settlement. According to the common belief, the water of the river has a red hue and is known to have certain curative properties. Popular lakes like the Vishansar Lake and the Krishnasar Lake are located in the proximity of the Nilagrad River. It is open for sightseeing all round the year. However, the months from April to September are believed to be the best months to travel to the Nilagrad River. Every Sunday mass dipping takes place in the river. Historical Context: Water of the river is believed to have medicinal properties that can cure any type of skin problem.
