The Gadsar Lake is referred to by different names like the Lake of Flowers or the Yemsar Lake. It is an alpine, high altitude oligotrophic lake that is extremely picturesque and is located in the Ganderbal District of the Kashmir Valley. The lake is present at an elevation of 3600 meters above the sea level and has a maximum width of 0.76 kilometers and length of 0.85 kilometers. This lake of fishes is a natural habitat for a variety of different types of fishes. One of which is the brown trout. During the months of November to April, the Gadsar Lake freezes. However, even during the summer months, one can notice the ice bergs floating in this beautiful Gadsar Lake. Historical Context: Gadsar is known as the Lake of Death.
