Situated just a little on the exterior of the Sonmarg is the Vishansar Lake. It is present at an elevation of some 3710 meters above the sea level; this is a high altitude oligotrophic lake. The lake has a width of 0.6 kilometers and length of about a kilometer. In the winter months, the lake freezes, however, during the summer months the scenic views of the lush green meadows that surround the lake gives forth a majestic sight. It can be reached via the Nichinai Pass that is another high elevation and a prominent tourist spot here. The lake is a natural habitat for a variety of fishes.
